FMTY Travel With Me; Expectations, Pace, Culture & Comfort

This entry exists so potential FMTY partners understand what traveling with me actually looks like.

I’m particular about travel, and I don’t hide that.

When I agree to a FMTY, it’s because the trip allows me to stay grounded, rested, and present, not depleted. That’s what makes the experience good for both of us.

First, sleep matters.I need a full eight hours of sleep. Not “we’ll see how it goes,” not late nights followed by early mornings. If I’m rested, I’m warm, attentive, and engaged. Trips that respect rest always go better.

Food matters too.I need regular meals ; breakfast, lunch, and dinner, unless I explicitly say I’m choosing intermittent fasting. I enjoy food, I enjoy sitting down to eat, and I like trips where meals are treated as part of the experience, not something squeezed in.

I like travel that allows me to learn about culture, but I’m not interested in checking off tourist lists just to say I’ve been somewhere. I’d rather understand a place than perform it. That might mean walking neighborhoods, listening more than rushing, or choosing experiences that feel lived-in instead of staged.

I do love shopping, but not malls or mass-market stops. I’m drawn to local shops and small boutiques, places that reflect where we are rather than what’s everywhere. I enjoy finding things that feel specific to a place.

As for the trips themselves, I’m drawn to two very different moods.

I love sunny, beach-forward getaways; warm air, slow mornings, swims, long afternoons that stretch into evening.

And I equally love dark, quiet places; forests, mountains, cabins, anywhere that feels tucked away. If there’s an excellent spa, hot tub, or soaking situation involved, even better. I like contrast: light and shadow, movement followed by deep rest.

I’m open to some adventure, especially when it feels intentional rather than chaotic. I’ve never been kayaking, but a new friend recently told me how fun it could be, and I’m curious. I enjoy trying new things when there’s space to recover afterward.

There are also places I haven’t been yet that I’d genuinely love to experience; Japan, Mexico, and Canada are all on my list this year. Each for different reasons, each with its own adventure waiting to be explore by me.

What I don’t enjoy are overpacked itineraries, constant movement, or trips that feel like endurance tests disguised as adventure. I’m not trying to conquer a destination. I’m trying to inhabit it.

The best FMTY experiences are with someone who understands that comfort isn’t laziness. It’s what allows presence. Someone who listens when I say what I need and plans with care.

Travel with me is calm, well-fed, well-rested, culturally curious, and deeply enjoyed. The kind of FMTY that feels expansive, indulgent, and genuinely memorable.

The right FMTY doesn’t feel demanding. It feels easy.
